Notice of Race:

27th Annual Morgan Invasion/Catalina Rendezvous Hospice Regatta

May 18 – 20, 2012


NEW for 2012’s event, the Morgan Invasion team welcomes the addition of all Catalina Yacht owners for a weekend of FUN, FAMILY, and friendly competition on the Gulf of MexicoAll Skippers and Crew are invited for the weekend – whether Yacht Club members or not.

Rules: The race will sort of be governed by the Racing Rules of Sailing and the Sailing Instructions. For example, protests are very, very discouraged.

Eligibility: Open to any self-righting sailboat built or designed by
Charley Morgan, and, NEW FOR this year’s event, all Catalina Yachts. Boats must have, or be eligible for, a current PHRF rating (www.westfloridaphrf.org). PHRF certificates can be delivered or sent to The Club Treasure Island Dockmaster: Les Lathrop, 400 Treasure Island Causeway, Treasure Island, FL 33706. Boats that do not have PHRF certificates will be assigned a rating by the Race Committee.

Fees: Entry fees include Saturday racing, docking/rafting at TCTI, one Awards Dinner ticket, a 2011 Morgan Invasion T-shirt, and complimentary coffee juice and crumb buns on Saturday morning.

Friday, May 18

• Boats arrive at TCTI - - - - - - - - Docking/rafting is complimentary for all entrants.
                                                  Charge for electricity only. Be prepared for rafting.
• Registration - - - - - - - - - - - - - 3:00 pm – 7:00 pm - Registration desk, pool side
• Poolside Cookout to order - - - 5:00 pm – 8:00 pm - - Pay with Credit Card or Cash
• Entertainment by John Reno - - 5:00 pm – 9:00 pm - - Poolside/Tiki Bar

Saturday, May 19

• “Waffles & Omelets” for Hospice – Breakfast with Charlie & Maurine

7:30 am – 9:00 am

o TCTI Marker 14/Lounge, 2nd floor
o Pay with Credit Card or Cash
o Complimentary coffee, juice & crumb buns
o Cash bar open for Bloody Marys!

• Skippers meeting - - - - - 9:00 am (in same room)

• Harbor Start - - - - - - - - - 10:00 am

• First Warning - - - - - - - - 12 noon

• Returning boats - - - - - - 4:00 pm

• Lunch for non-racers at club to order Poolside/Tiki Bar or the Marker 14 Lounge

All Merchandise - - - - - - - Cash or checks only, Not setup for credit cards

• Dinner poolside buffet - - - - 6:30 pm

o Reservations, please. Each entrant receives one dinner ticket.
o Awards to follow with Charley and Les Pirate Costume Judging and best dressed ship contest.  Racing awards to include finishes within both Morgan and Catalina fleets and an overall winner on best corrected time between the two fleets! 

Sunday, May 20

Join Charley and Maurine for breakfast in our dining room 2nd floor – 8:30 am – 10:30 am.
Boats begin departing at their convenience

Classes: Divisions will be determined by the number of vessels in length/model categories and/or WFPHRF ratings.

Venue: Gulf of Mexico, west of Treasure Island and no more than 4 miles offshore

Courses: will be described in the sailing instructions

Sailing Instructions: Available March 7th on the Morgan Invasion website (www.MorganInvasion.com) and at TCTI Dockmaster’s office.

Radio Communication: Race Committee will begin broadcasting at 10 am on VHF channel 69 as seen in the Race instructions. Weather conditions, course selection, countdown and infractions will be broadcast on same channel.

Our charity is Suncoast Hospice: Donation Suggestions: The boat raising the most money will have its name on the Perpetual Trophy, the Sally Morgan Memorial Trophy.

That weekend, Endeavour Green Electric Boats will be giving boat rides for donations to our charity.
